Out with the Old Garage

First Dad had to remove the fireplace surround so we could get to the concrete below it.

What is in there?

Dad cut the sheetrock away.
Lots of stuff had rolled under the sheetrock when the floor settled an inch.

Knock those studs out of the way.

This is the step from the kitchen.
See how it is not touching the garage floor because the floor settled?

We wonder why the floor didn't settle another 4 inches like the dirt settled.

There is a big space under the garage floor

It extends for many feet in both directions.
The garage floor was already suspended in mid air.

The bobcat lifted the concrete starting at the garage door and worked its way into the garage.

The bobcat came right into the garage.
Lee tried to break the concrete while the scoop held it off the ground.

Eventually it broke.

Dad and Lee loaded the concrete into the bobcat scoop.

Dad used the sledge hammer from Uncle Donny to...

...break the big pieces of concrete floor

Lee and Dad load up the Big pieces....

...while we pick up the small pieces.

The floor is all lifted except for 3 feet in front of the workbench.

Now it is time to clean up all the pieces.

Good friends are glad to help.

James and Josh work together.

Star wonders what is happening out there.

The step from the kitchen has been removed.

The concrete step was held on with a few nails.

Ahh, A Job Well Done.
